ExpressionEngine® Answers is a community Q&A site for ExpressionEngine administrators, developers, designers, and end users. If you have a question or problem with ExpressionEngine, you're in the right place!
The EE StackExchange is here to help with roadblocks but shouldn't be used as a substitute for reading docs and digging into code.
APPROPRIATE QUESTIONS
We welcome all well-written questions about using ExpressionEngine CMS or any ExpressionEngine add-ons. Questions must be answerable (e.g. no feature requests), and must not lead to open ended discussions (e.g. no "which add-on is the best" type questions, unless they have a specific use case described).
NON-EE QUESTIONS
Questions which do not directly involve ExpressionEngine (such as general HTML, CSS, Javascript or PHP questions) should be asked on Stack Overflow instead as they will receive better answers there. Non-EE questions will be closed or migrated by moderators.
IS YOUR QUESTION ABOUT A BUG?
If your problem is clearly a bug, and you can identify which add-on is responsible (such as a PHP error), we ask that you report it directly to the developer through their official support channels, as there is very little our community here can do to help you. Even if the developer provides official support via Stack Exchange, you must contact them via email instead. Questions which are obviously bug reports will be closed. However, if you're not sure whether your issue is a bug, it's ok to ask here whether you're approaching things the right way.
WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR QUESTION
To avoid comments on your question seeking additional information, please include the following:
- ExpressionEngine version number
- Addon name & version number
- Details on what you have tried already (The EE StackExchange is here to help with roadblocks but shouldn't be used as a substitute for reading docs and digging into code)
- Detailed code examples (use pastie.org or jsfiddle.net if needed)
- Err on the side of more information for a prompt answer
Please look around to see if your question has been asked before. It’s also OK to ask and answer your own question.
If your question is not specifically on-topic for ExpressionEngine® Answers, it may be on topic for another Stack Exchange site. If no site currently exists that will accept your question, you may commit to or propose a new site at Area 51, the place where new Stack Exchange communities are democratically created.
