This is going to be opinion based answers and only EllisLab can give you the correct answer - so ideally you'd need to contact them to confirm. But you can use a license number for a single site, so a duplicate use of that license would be officially a breach of license. But only the license holder/owner can state which is the valid licensed site - it ...

Addons is too broad for the forum, you'll have to contact the manufacurers however I've never seen a 3rd party phone home from the popular developers (SolSPace, P&T, GotoLow, Expresso, PutYourLightsOn)... The Licence check came in on version 2.9 (July 15, 2014), all it does is send some server details back to EllisLabs, heres the actual payload code for ...

It sounds like you purchased this license and own it under your account. If the client never paid you for this license then it is yours and you're free to do with it what you will. Report the client to EllisLab if they truly are simply denying to pay for the license. Also, don't work for this client again in the future as it sounds like they're not very ...

As long as you have a valid license, there is no issue with duplication. Just use the license for your development environment, and push it to the production environment. If you already have production set up, just clone the repo to your development environment. EllisLab is not made up of monsters; many people run EE applications with a duplicated ...

We start building before our licenses are purchased. We just put in a random number until we actually get the real license. EE doesn't currently do an authorization call on install to validate your license. We use stuff like: 1234-1234-1234-1234.

Assuming nothing has changed with recent versions of Cartthrob, and Cartthrob has been properly installed you should go to Add-Ons->Modules->Cartthrob, then you should see a place to enter the licence number. (under the Global tab). You may also have shortcut to go directly to the Cartthrob settings page in your Control Panel menu bar.

It's possible the CartThrob developers removed the field for the license number and have not updated their docs. It is not required that you add the license number and the Module will not stop working if it's not there.
