The "This site is currently unavailable" error suggests to me the IP addresses or usernames or something has been added to the "banned" list. This is how you check and fix this. --------->>>>>>>> BEFORE YOU PROCEED... BACK UP YOUR DATABASE --------->>>>>>>> THEN BACK THE DATABASE UP AGAIN ============================= Go into the exp_sites table in the ...

I wouldn't recommend changing the hash function to MD5 as it has been insecure since 1996 (no offense Jelle). What I would recommend doing is changing the email to a Super Admin row in that table to an email you have access to, then using the reset password functionality in EE. From there, you can reset that users password safely and go about cleaning up ...

that should probably be config.php in /system/expressionengine/config/config.php it should be 666 according to the docs

I'd start by commenting out sections of the code to isolate which field(s) are throwing the errors - once you do that, you should be able to track down what the issue is; I think I've seen bugs like this when there are poorly handled single/double/curly quotes in fields.

For security reasons, we have limited the Key Invite feature to Super Admin's only. If you wanted to adjust this on your own, you would have to modify the code in mod.user.php around line 9310: /** ---------------------------------------- /** Is the current user logged in? // are they an admin? must be admin /** ----------------------------------------*/ ...

If the issue is logging in, and that's it, you can change replace your password in the exp_members table with an md5 hash of a password, and then log in using the unhashed version of the password. It's also possible to log yourself in programmatically (see EE 2.6.0 Password Reset not working)

I would recommend changing your admin_session_type in the config file to $config['admin_session_type'] = 's'; and trying again... if 's' (session) doesn't do the trick try 'c' (cookie) It might also be worth taking a peek at http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/216411/ If you locked out your account from some reason, you might have to clear out entries in ...

Have you tried logging in using your Super Admin email address as your username?

I've just released I need to give them permissions to the EE 'member' area of the site. They can delete zoo visitor members now.

Have you tried cranking up max_execution_time? Try 300 Various ways to do it - some cPanel versions let you configure it along with php version or you could use a php.ini file

I want to post an update to this question for EE 5 because the current answer is pretty outdated. In order to set a member's password in the DB, you'll need to know what the hash algorithm is. From /system/ee/legacy/libraries/Auth.php we can see the possible options that EE might use: private $hash_algos = array( 128 => 'sha512', 64 =&...
