Interesting. That would explain things. Reading putyourlightson.com/plugins/snaptcha-ee#using-snaptcha, they really hype not having to do anything other than install Snaptcha.

Turns out the "Data operations" privilege also gives Search/Replace abilities, which I really wouldn't want content admins to have access to. (I have a big site and lots of them.) So I think the clearing content in that directory will work.
